Markus Aebi, lic. oec. HSG

Chief Executive Officer CEO, responsible for Business Development, Sales and Marketing.



Markus Aebi worked for 18 years with Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., mainly in the field of Finance as well as Marketing and Sales. After 4 years with the internal audit department, he was for 8 years Finance Manager of Roche’s New Zealand- and Indonesian affiliate. Then he worked in the Pharma Marketing field for the Middle East region in Dubai and then was responsible for the Pharmaceutical business as Country Manager in Saudi Arabia. Between 2006 and 2007 he was Finance Director for the Pharmaceutical business in Central and Eastern Europe. Markus Aebi graduated Business Administration at the University of St.Gallen (HSG), specializing in the field of Finance, Controlling and Auditing. 




Dr. sc. nat. Florian Steiner

Chief Technical Officer CTO, responsible for Molecular Biology and IT.



After studying molecular biology, Florian Steiner did 2007 his PhD in natural science in molecular biology at the Institute of Virology of the University of Zürich. Between 2003 and 2007, he worked at the Institute of Virology as PhD student and at the same time as IT-Coordinator. His work included the generation of recombinant viruses as well as amplicon technology. 2002 he was awarded the semester prize for his achievements in virus research. Between 1994 and 1997 he studied computer science and environmental science at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zürich, where in parallel he worked as a freelancer in the field of IT systems support. 




Dr. sc. nat. Sraboni Ghose

Chief Operating Officer COO, responsible for Cell Biology, Projectleader Channelopathy Database, Sales



Sraboni Ghose worked between 2004 and 2008 at the French biotech company Cisbio International as a scientist. There she contributed to the development of intracellular protein interaction assays in living cells, to be used in high throughput drug screening. After a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Berne, she did her postdoc at Stanford University focusing on live cell fluorescence microscopy in developing neurons. Earlier, she studied Neurobiology and Pharmacology at the University of Paris and Biochemistry and Microbiology at University of Bombay, India.




Dr. sc. nat. Urs Thomet

Chief Scientific Officer CSO, member of the executive board, responsible for R+D and Electrophysiology.



Between 2003 and 2007 Urs Thomet, winner of the NETS finalist prize 2004, worked as Chief Scientific Officer and member of the executive board at bSys GmbH. He was fully responsible and instrumental for the launch of a cell-based ion channel research platform as well as the complete implementation of the GLP test facility. Until 2003, Urs Thomet held an academic appointment in neuropharmacology at the Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology at the University of Zürich. Prior to that he was Study Director responsible for cardiac in vitro electrophysiology in the field of preclinical safety evaluation at the Swiss CRO company RCC Ltd. He did his PhD thesis at the University of Berne on the search for novel drug candidates with potential CNS indications. He worked on several drug development programs with novel mode of actions, mainly through GABA neurotransmission circuits. 




Thomas Beiser

Chief Financial Officer CFO, member of the executive board and responsible for Finances and Legal.



Thomas Beiser brings an international experience of over 20 years in banking and management positions in different industries. He owns or runs several smaller companies in Germany and Switzerland as CEO or CFO, holds various positions as member of the executive board, and specialises in private-equity financing. His investment company Swissba GmbH supports Genionics AG as an investor as well as in an advisory capacity in the area of finance.
